18+ DIY Fake Wallpaper Projects

18+ DIY Fake Wallpaper Projects18+ DIY Fake Wallpaper Projects

This DIY wallpaper roundup shows you how to make 15 different styled wallpapers using paints, sharpies, or sponges. These designs are mostly repetitive and use sponges or shapes to create repeating patterns across your wall. These repeating patterns take a little patience as you may be adding 100 dots or even 1000, literally all over the wall.

Which is your favorite design? Have you tried sponge painting or stencil painting before? I remember sponge painting my bedroom wall over 30 years ago, not a design as such just color on top of color to create a two-tone effect. It was in fashion at the time and everyone was sponging their walls. it was so forgiving and easy to do. I even remember sponge painting a set of drawers to match with my DIY bedroom walls.

DIY Rainbow Wall Hanging From Pool Noodles

DIY Rainbow Wall Hanging From Pool NoodlesDIY Rainbow Wall Hanging From Pool NoodlesDIY Rainbow Wall Hanging From Pool Noodles

When I came across this amazing idea by Mercedes Johnson I knew I had to share it with all my DIYers.

This Rainbow wall hanging is made using pool noodles for an oversized dimensional effect.

Mercedes used yarn to wrap the noodles, securing them with  hot glue along the way.  My first question was how did you get it to hold the shape?  She placed it between to heavy items to create the arch, gluing as she worked.

It has added details with rope and pom poms, but you can add anything you like to suit your decor, add some tassels hanging down for extra length to the design.

Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful idea Mercedes.

Artful living in a 1900s Belgian home

A design-loving duo’s home on the outskirts of Brussels is packed with exhibition objects and furnishings

From the steel sculpture by Fabian von Spreckelsen in the garden to the curve of Kaspar Hamacher’s Lounger chair inside the house, there is a compelling assortment of pieces to admire at the Belgian home of French writer and gallerist Lise Coirier.

“For us, culture is not the cherry on the cake, it is at the core of everything,” explains Coirier. She and her Swedish-Italian husband, Gian Giuseppe Simeone, believe that being surrounded by art has a fundamental impact on quality of life.

Sassy Vintage Plate Up-cycle by Plate-a-tude

Sassy Vintage Plate Up-cycle by Plate-a-tude Sassy Vintage Plate Up-cycle by Plate-a-tude

I came across these Vintage plates on Facebook by Plate-a-Tude and I knew I had to share it with all my thrifting crafters. Make sure you check out the Plate-a-tude  page to shop for her latest designs.

I have come across some beautiful vintage plates when out and about thrifting, but often find myself stuck with how to use them, especially when there is only a single plate or platter plate available.

You might recall my vintage crystal food stand I made a few years ago and since then I have made several with dinnerware settings, but never used a single piece for crafting.

By adding some quotes, inspirational, sassy, or fun you can revamp up an old vintage plate or platter dish into something new and fun!

You can grab SVG files for using your Cricut cutting machine to transfer quotes directly onto the plate. If you do not have a cutting machine then you could use oil-based sharpie pens to add a saying to the design.  Hang the plates on a wall or use a plate stand to create these amazing upcycled pieces of art.

Christmas in our Library

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well and looking forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus this week. As some of you know we gave our library a makeover a few months ago.  We are happy with the changes but I especially love it all decorated for Christmas. It is a good place to enjoy reading a book with a hot drink. I love my new copper mugs! A few closeups.....the very old
