DIY Coat Hanger Christmas Angel

DIY Coat Hanger Christmas Angel

This tutorial shows you how to make a Christmas Angel wreath using coat hangers or clothes hangers.

What you need

You will need a total of 11 coat hangers (I have found that the kid/baby sized coat hangers work best.)
-Zip ties
-Scissors
-Circle Ring for Angel head – I used a cross-stitch hoop and wrapped with white ribbon (feel free to use your creativity!)
Optional: spray paint to paint your angel gold, silver or any color that resonates with you.

Rhapsody in blue: a Milanese apartment

In the heart of Italy’s design capital, this spectacular home hits all the right notes

Milan’s Sforza Castle may not be as well known as its Teatro alla Scala or Duomo, but it is one of the Italian city’s proudest monuments. In the mid-1400s the Duke of Milan, Francesco I Sforza, transformed what were near ruins into one of the most exclusive residences of the Italian Renaissance. A few years later, the restoration was taken further by Francesco’s fourth son, Ludovico il Moro, who enlisted his contemporaries to help him deck it out, including a couple of chaps called Donato Bramante and Leonardo da Vinci. Five centuries on, across the road in the home of former fashion designer Lorenza Bozzoli, history is repeating itself.

The Milan-born artist and interior designer, together with her husband, architect Piergiorgio Fasoli, has just finished a six-month renovation of their mezzanine apartment in front of the castle on the Piazza Castello. They have turned “a boring studio”, as Bozzoli puts it, into a multicoloured Tardis filled with furniture and art.

And here’s the kitchen garden: cooped-up Britain moves the indoors outdoors

As lockdown forces us to use every inch inside our homes, those lucky enough to have outside space are going al-fresco

A bench and a slightly wobbly table used to be adequate for sitting and eating outside on warm days. Now the vogue is to turn your garden into a sophisticated outdoor living room, with rugs, cushions, scented candles and fire pits.

Lockdown has forced people to use every inch of their homes to accommodate work, education, exercise and leisure. Since the “stay at home” order was issued on 23 March, retailer John Lewis has seen a 63% rise in sales of its outdoor range, with barbecue sales more than doubling compared with a year ago. Some homeowners are going further and building outdoor kitchens, with fridges, ovens and sinks.

Years after my mother's death, I finally understand what she was trying to say

I come from a long line of stubborn, learn-the-hard-way women who never fit in, so maybe that's why I'm not a fan of Mother's Day.

DIY Steampunk Mixed Media Mirror Makeover

I know mixed media is not something that you find very often given to furniture but I had this idea in my head that this mirror would suit a mixed media makeover. I chose a steampunk theme because I knew I would be able to find bits and bobs in my workshop and home. Mixed media is all about adding different art mediums into one piece of art, but I chose furniture instead of art. Looking at the process it is a total mess but the end results are stunning. See the full tutorial here.
